Unit 69: Eco- Holiday
An Eco-Holiday is a holiday designed to learn about animals, plants and environments and to make sure that these places are not destroyed by tourism.
The Great Barrier Reef is located off the coast of North-Eastern Australia.
The clownfish coats itself with anemone mucus so that it does not get stung by its tentacles and when a predator threatens the clownfish it hides inside the poisonous anemone.
The puffer fish takes in water to double its size so that it can look scary and its enemies will not attack it.
Coral polyps make limestone to surround its body with an armour to protect itself.
Coral polyps eat algae. Coral gets its colour from the different types of algae that live inside it.
There are seven species of sea turtle in the world. Six of these live in Australian waters.
Unit 46 - Civil War in Ireland
The British left Dublin Castle on the 15th January 1922.
The civil war in Ireland was between the Irish Free State Army and the Irregulars. The irregulars were unhappy with the treaty and they fought against each other because of their differences of opinion.
The Four Courts in Dublin was badly damaged during the Civil War.
Michael Collins was shot in Béal na mBláth near Bandon, Co. Cork
He is buried in Glasnevin Cemetery.
Seventy-seven people were executed during the Civil War.
De Valera drew up the 1937 Constitution of Ireland.
The first President of Ireland was Douglas Hyde
The first female President was Mary Robinson
Michael D. Higgins is the President of Ireland now.
